Are you one of the many people who are confused about the difference between optometrist and ophthalmologist? You might think the terms are interchangeable and generally mean “eye doctor.” That’s far from the truth – the two kinds of eye care professionals are, in fact, very different.

A very common question we hear at Rochester Eye and Laser Center is, “Can LASIK vision correction eliminate the need for reading glasses?” The answer is “yes” and “no.”

You may remember the popular TV series, “The Six Million Dollar Man.” Col. Steve Austin, played by actor Lee Majors, was an astronaut severely injured in a crash.
