Anti-glare, blue light filter and other lens enhancements

Portrait of handsome smiling photo editor at his desklens enhancement is an optional feature for your prescription lenses that's designed to improve your overall experience with your glasses. The goal is to make wearing glasses for vision correction more precise and comfortable.

We are asked frequently what eyeglass lens material is the best. Thinner and lighter than plasticpolycarbonate (impact-resistant) lenses are shatter-proof and provide 100% UV protection, making them the optimal choice for kids and active adults. They're also ideal for strong prescriptions since they do not add thickness when correcting vision, minimizing any distortion.

Did you know that there are several types of eyeglass lens materials and lens enhancements on the market? Depending on your lifestyle and what you use your glasses for, here are some of the options available to you at The Rochester Eye & Laser Center.

Transition Brand Photochromic lenses change tint in accordance with the amount of light around you and also include a blue-light filter to reduce digital eye strain.

Polarized lenses filter bounce-back glare for daytime driving, in sun, snow and especially out on the water where reflected light is the strongest. UV protection can be added to the backside of the lenses to defend your eyes against UV rays reflected off surfaces like sidewalks and windows. Ask us about enhancing your lenses with an AR coating.

Mirrored lenses add an extra 20% push-back to outdoor sun and are specifically designed to optimize our vision!

Single Vision Computer Lenses combine blue light filter with a single vision lens andBluTech Lenses Blue Light Protection can help relieve the neck discomfort some experience while wearing bifocals during computer use. Blue light filter lenses offer optimal protection and comfort for driving, to minimize halos and glare from oncoming car headlights or on computer screens.
