It's Time To Screen Your Dry Eyes for MGD

It's Time To Screen Your Dry Eyes for MGD

Kristen_Dry Eye Treatment with LipiFlowThe results may be eye opening!

Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is a common eye condition, yet many people don't realize they have it. You get it when there's a problem with a few dozen tiny glands in your eyelids that help make tears.

These meibomian glands make an oil called meibum. Meibum, water, and mucus form the three layers of tear film, the fluid that keeps your eyes moist. The oil helps prevent the water layer on the eye surface from drying out.

Changes to the amount or quality of the oil, or to the glands themselves, can lead to MGD. It's often the result of a combination of things. The most common type, obstructive MGD, happens when the gland openings get clogged, and less and less oil reaches the eye surface.

We treat Dry Eye very aggressively with the latest techniques using specifically LipiFlow. LipiFlow treats Meibomian Gland Disfunction (MGD), a major cause of Dry Eye.

How LipiFlow Works

The LipiFlow system uses heat and a 12-minute pressure profile to remove blockages in the Meibomian Glands. By heating the glands from the inside, blockages are liquified. Gentle pressure is applied from outside the lid, from the base of the gland to the gland opening, flushing dead cells from the gland. We have the latest technology that actually treats this major contributor to Dry Eye.

Patients report that the treatment is comfortable and their eyes are moving smoothly and feel great for up to 3 years or more from treatment. With our LipiFlow low pricing of just $600 - it's an easy decision over eye drops.
