Please join the Rochester Eye & Laser Center in recognizing February as Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)/Low Vision Awareness Month. Our goal is to help educate the public about the risk factors associated with AMD, along with the treatment options available.

In the not-so-distant future, a routine eye exam may have the ability to detect your risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease. This may seem like a bold claim, but it has research to back it up, plus the support of Bill Gates and other investors, looking to develop an affordable and reliable test for the disease.

At one point or another, most of us have experienced red, bloodshot or itchy eyes. If the whites of your eyes, otherwise known as the sclera, are noticeably reddened, there could be several potential causes.  Some of the most common causes include inflammation, broken blood vessels, infection, allergy or trauma.
