Meet The 2016 Eyes on our Heroes Winners!

Written by The Rochester Eye & Laser Team | Sep 6, 2016 9:29:22 PM

Every year, in honor of September 11th, The Rochester Eye & Laser Center honors those who work and sacrifice to protect us each day, by awarding free LASIK Laser Vision Correction Surgery to two deserving, local first responders.

Mirriam-Webster defines a hero as: a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.

We would like to introduce two true Rochester heroes who exemplify this definition, Rochester Firefighters Dominick Aruck and Flor Ruiz.

Please join us in both congratulating and thanking Flor and Dominick for their service! Stay tuned for more information on how their surgeries turn out!

Nominated by Lori Sozio, Dominick Aruck is a Firefighter, protecting the residents of the city of Rochester. "When an individual is a hero at work, and carries these amazing qualities, over to his family and community...this person is a true Superhero. Dominick is a superhero to family, friends and to the Webster community," Sozio states.

Nominated by his wife Denise, Flor Ruiz, or "Poky" as he's known among friends, is a father and 15 year Firefighter in the city of Rochester. "He is on the front-lines helping our neighbors from all walks of life. To look a person in their eyes, whether they are the victim or family member, is a way to make contact, to assess and examine, and to reassure and comfort. He has been doing this efficiently and bravely for the past 15 years, and always through a lens" says Denise.
